A new Runi Management page has been added that can be reached from the Items → Cards screen.
Runi cards that have been staked to the game in Runi Management will now be playable!

SPS Rewards will now be displayed on the Brawl Results screen.
Riftwatcher packs have been added to transactions processed by the SPS Validators.

Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
Fixed an issue with the display of Hive DEC balance not showing properly.
Added support for Trample and Reach as Summoner abilities and added Possibilus The Wise, the Legendary Water Chaos Legion summoner, to the game.
Ear Candy
A new set of musical tracks and sound effects have been added to the game. Note that you must be logged in for these to play.
There is now music on the initial About, Card Collection, Guilds (list of all guilds and the guild About page), Mana Well (a.k.a. Pack Opening), Market, and Shop screens.
Team Creation buttons now play sound effects.
The Battle Music has been replaced with different tracks for Modern and Wild formats.
Non-Card Market
We have corrected an issue where fractional values sent through the blockchain were not being rejected properly.
Game Mechanics Update
A long standing issue where monsters that had buffs Dispelled would lose stats again when the original buffing monster died has been corrected.
General Updates
The Welcome Back tournament section will now only show official tournaments or tournaments created by approved partners. This is to prevent user created tournaments with inappropriate or offensive names from being prominently displayed on the initial view.
Some SPS/DEC values that were being set to two decimal places, when the display was showing three, have been corrected to have the value go out to the third decimal place properly.
Several inputs for DEC, SPS, or Voucher amounts now drop any values entered after the third decimal place.
The underlying database for the game has been updated to a newer version, which should come with performance improvements when requesting data.
Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
The daily burning of 25,000 Chaos Legion packs from the store has been started as described in this passed proposal.
An issue where the monster level on battle replays was displaying as the level they were being credited as for reward calculations, instead of the actual level in the match, was corrected.
Non-Card Market
The Other Items section of the Market now has content! You can now buy and sell Packs, Land Claims, Totems, and Titles on the non-card section of the Market. Purchases can be made via Credits or Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), and all payments will be made to sellers in DEC. The standard 5% market fee will be applied to what the seller receives on transactions, in the same fashion as the Card Market. Note: Due to the plan for LICENSE tokens will be handled by SPS validator nodes, they were not included in the initial non-card market release. Supporting card SKINS being sold on the market also requires additional development work and they will likely be added in a future update.
Ranked Rewards
We have corrected an issue where the calculation for card level reductions was using the monster level as capped by the current summoner, instead of this actual card level of monster card. This would lead to low level summoners having an overly large negative impact on rewards.
Game Mechanics Update
Adjustments have been made to how buffs/debuffs interact with dead/dying monsters to address some odd behavior when multiple creatures are dying/being revived at the same time.
General Updates
Message handling has been implemented on Tech Modernization pages. This is an initial MVP implementation, and we may adjust the styling and/or duration that messages persist as we get feedback on this implementation. Note: Direct Challenges are not implemented on Tech Modernization pages yet. We expect to add it soon, and challenges will still function on all original client pages.
Blood Stones and Power Stones are now purchasable with DEC instead of merits, as per this passed proposal.
The cost of Spy Glasses in the Guild Store has been adjusted downward from 5 Crowns to 2 Crowns.
A small change was made to always round down after the third decimal place on some balance values being displayed on the SPS Management page. Rounding up could cause people to try to withdraw a balance that was greater than the actual amount, causing it to fail.
LEO has been retired as a Credits purchase option due to low volume/activity.
Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
The Brawls fray compositions have been adjusted as described in this post.
Login Issues
Game Mechanics Update
An issue with Stun where it would fail to clear if the Stunning monster was killed has been corrected.
Stun should now interrupt Trample. This was a particularly uncommon situation where a monster with Retaliate and Stun was killed by a monster with Trample, but Retaliated and Stunned the attacker.
An issue with monsters that were killed by Backfire not properly triggering Redemption or Scavenge abilities has been fixed.
Lux Vega
Lux Vega is leaving the building… the Promo page for purchasing Lux Vega will be removed from the shop at 4PM EST following this update.
The display when selecting a Splinter for Lux Vega has been updated to reflect she is not a Dragon summoner.
General Updates
Numerous transactions in Currency Activity → Balance History that were displaying as token_transfer_multi
should now be logged as the original transaction type again. This will not impact entries from the past few weeks that were already logged as this type of activity.
A second layer of sorting has been added to the Currency Activity → Balance History. Previously we only tracked the time the Hive block containing the transaction was processed. The are now logging the time each individual transaction takes place, to address the issue where multiple transactions inside the same block were not in any particular order. This will only impact new Balance History entries after this patch.
The tooltip for Full Earning Requirements on the League Information page has been corrected to work as a tooltip.
The Richlist API (https://api.splinterlands.com/players/richlist) has been updated to provide a list of valid tokens when one is not provided. You can see the top 200 accounts by specifying a token (https://api.splinterlands.com/players/richlist?token_type=SPS) or specify both a token a player to get the top 200 plus that player’s standing in the Richlist (https://api.splinterlands.com/players/richlist?token_type=DEC&player=cryptomancer).
For Node License purchases, transactions will now require Active Key authority on the transaction.
An issue with invalid Reward Delegation still creating a history record has been corrected.
A minor issue where trying to remove a monster from the current team, after having removed the summoner and not yet selecting a new one, could cause errors to appear in the browser console log has been corrected.
SPS Governance Proposal Updates
DEC Liquidity Pool rewards have been changed to SPS as defined by the recently approved SPS governance proposal. View the full details of this proposal here.
We have updated the UI to reflect SPS as a Liquidity Pool reward and removed all references to DEC in the Pools tab of the SPS management page.
SPS configurations have been updated to distribute SPS correctly as a reward for Liquidity providers.
We have reduced the number of reward shares earned by winning players when they use cards in a ranked battle that are below the intended levels for each league. This change was brought forth by the recently approved SPS governance proposal. View the full details of this proposal here.
A calculation service has been implemented to calculate the reward reductions necessary for ranked battle wins based on the BCX of the cards.
A notification has been added to the ranked battle card selection screen that will inform players of selected cards that do not meet the minimum league requirements and the reward reductions that will occur if they choose to use those cards.
We have added a reward reduction section to the rewards calculation display on the Battle Results modal, indicating a breakdown of the reward share reductions.
A ‘Full Earning Requirement’ section has been added to the League Rewards screen that can be accessed by clicking on the Leagues button on the battle page. Here players can view the minimum level requirements for each card rarity, respectively, which is necessary to avoid any reductions in reward share earnings for ranked battles.
Game Mechanics Update
We have updated the Death mechanics of the game. Simultaneous damage from effects like Earthquake or Poison will deal damage to all monsters affected before any of them are considered dead.
Trample & Blast deaths are impacted such that if more than one unit dies, the unit targeted by any Resurrection abilities may be different than prior to this change.
If the monster with Resurrection is killed as part of simultaneous damage, the Resurrection ability will no longer be triggered.
Life gain from Scavenge will only resolve after all simultaneous damage has resolved, and 0 Health monsters are removed from the field. If a monster with Scavenge has taken fatal damage along with other monsters, they will not gain life to survive.
Spliterfest Followup: Lux Vega Release
We have set the sale of the Lux Vega promo card to go live once the countdown timer to the sale ends.
We have enabled the purchase of the Lux Vega card with promo codes and vouchers.
Game mechanics have been implemented to allow the use of the Lux Vega card in the Splinterlands ecosystem.
General Updates
For players at the lower end of Bronze, they would often only be earning a fractional amount of reward points (Focus & Seasonal) that did not display on the Battle Results. We are now rounding up fractional reward shares so that newer users should see 1 point as a minimum if earning any reward points. Playing only Starter cards will still result in no reward points being earned.
An error that allowed users to select Gladius cards from their accounts during Splinterlands Open tournaments has been fixed.
We have reworked a change that was recently made to ensure that the Stampede rule set will no longer come up with the Back to Basics rule set since no monsters would have Trample.

Removed a section from one Splinterbites that named Kretch as the only modern Epic summoner.
Fixed a minor typo in another.
The audio files for battles, guild buildings, card reveals, and some pack opening animations has been remastered by the creative team for better sound quality.

We have implemented a fix to allow promotional card sales to function with the new validator bridge.
An issue that caused users to be unable to view battles when they are not logged in has been corrected.
We have added a new My Events tournament filter that will allow tournament creators to view recently created tournaments and navigate to tournaments that they have created. This will also include tournaments where creation was started but not yet finalized through tournament prizing payment (submitting the prizes distributed for the tournament), making them accessible in case the creator accidentally navigates away before paying for the prizes after paying the initial creation fee.
Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
We have implemented bug fixes that occurred due to the recent Tech Modernization release on the following items:

Tech Modernization
As part of the tech modernization updates, the following Splinterlands pages have undergone a series of changes as a result of upgrading the underlying technology Splinterlands to streamline future development and integrations with new features. The names of the recently added rulesets, Thorns, Magic Reflect and Return Fire, have been updated as follows:
Thorns will now be known as Briar Patch
Magic Reflect will now be known as Counterspell
Return Fire will now be known as Fire & Regret
An issue that caused the on-card icons for the abilities of the three new rulesets (Briar Patch, Counterspell, and Fire & Regret) not to display during battles have been fixed.
We have updated the Aim True ruleset description to reflect that magic attacks can not be dodged along with melee and ranged attacks.
A notification has been added that will display if a player does not have any playable cards to select during battle selection, along with an option that will allow the user to redirect to the internal market. This is typically seen in Brawls or Tournaments where Starter summoners are not available.
We have added a cut-off of a maximum of 99 rounds per battle, at which point the battle will be concluded as a draw. This addresses a specific combination of cards being played where life gain on both sides could outpace fatigue damage.
A cap of 350 cards has been put in place for combining and transferring cards to avoid transactions with too much data to post in a single Hive transaction, which would cause them to fail.
We have added the following display fields to the end-of-year account statement that can be downloaded from the Currency Activity page on Splinterlands.
Price USD - Displays the USD value of the transaction at the time that the transaction was made. Please note that not all transaction entries will display a USD value.
Block_num - Displays the Block number of the transaction.
Transaction_id - Displays the full transaction ID of the transaction.
An issue that caused a KYC/Paypal mismatch error to persist in certain scenarios after the user has reentered the correct details have been resolved.
Transak options for purchasing DEC and SPS with fiat have been enabled again.
Some improvements have been made to the Validator Handling of blocks that are still being processed to ensure that the Validator bridge does not overlook any ongoing transactions.

Battle Mechanics Updates
The new Thorns, Magic Reflect, and Return Fire rulesets have been added to the Splinterlands battle mechanics.
We've adjusted the Melee Mayhem ruleset to make it slightly more common while ensuring that it won't come up with Equal Opportunity or Keep Your Distance rulesets.
The Stampede rule set will no longer come up with the Back to Basics rule set since no monsters would have Trample.
General Updates
An issue with powering up an existing vote incorrectly, decreasing the outstanding number of votes displayed on the proposal display banner, has been corrected.
An issue with the league-level caps in Gladiator challenge matches that caused Gladiator cards to only be playable as level one has been fixed. The Gladiator cards selected in Gladiator challenge matches will now be playable at the normal level cap for the chosen league of the challenge match.
We have removed the KYC requirement from Spellbook purchases that was wrongfully introduced during the 2022-10-18 release.
The notification displayed when the last member of a guild leaves the guild and the guild is disbanded, has been updated to clearly state that all building upgrades and any contributions made to the guild will be irrevocably lost if the guild is disbanded. In addition, a second notification has also been added to confirm the disbandment of the guild. This was done to ensure that no guilds are disbanded erroneously or without knowing the full implications of disbanding the guild.
We have added an icon to represent Splinterlands open tournaments; this icon can be seen on the events page when viewing, entering, or participating in Splinterland open (Ghost card) tournaments.
The internal market page on Splinterlands has been updated to display the Splex.gg banner.
A bug that caused the banner on the card market page to not cover the entire length of the screen when viewed on larger monitors has been resolved.
A correction has been made to an issue where combining a locked card with a previously locked card would result in an unlocked version of a card. Card locks will now appropriately carry over to the resulting card.
To avoid unnecessary cooldown periods on playable cards, we have implemented a fix to the way that cards are selected for battle. If an account has more than one same-level card of the same unit, the game will select the most recently played card for future battles so that only one card enters a cooldown period.
We have added an option to replace one summoner with another during battle selection. This will allow users to keep their current card selection, given that the units they have selected are still eligible for use with the new summoner selection.
We have added support for Neutral Summoners to prepare for the Lux Vega release.
We made some changes to how the Last 5 teams' information is stored to further improve system performance.
Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
We have clearly marked our QA server with a "Test Mode On" banner to avoid users testing new functionality on this site to mistake the QA site with the actual Splinterlands site.
Changes in preparation of Validator Nodes:
We have updated the option to purchase Credits using SPS to function after implementing the Validator management system.
All tokens used in Tournaments that are managed by the new Validator system (SPS & Vouchers) can now be processed as external tokens when the Validators go live.
Vouchers used when Purchasing Chaos legion bonus packs have also been adapted to function as external tokens, and purchasing bonus packs with Vouchers will work as follows when the Validator system is in place:
If a player purchases 100 or more Chaos Legion packs, they will be eligible to burn a certain number of VOUCHER for Bonus Chaos Legion Packs.
The player will get a second request to sign a transaction when purchasing bonus packs with vouchers. (In the past, this was done in one transaction.).
Once the player receives their Bonus packs, the Vouchers will get burned.
General Updates:
Coinbase commerce has been integrated as our crypto payment system for Credit purchases with Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Tether (USDT), and USD coin (USDC).

Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
We have clearly marked our QA server with a "Test Mode On" banner to avoid users testing new functionality on this site to mistake the QA site with the actual Splinterlands site.
SPS Reward Delegation
We have added functionality to the SPS rewards delegation option that will allow users to delegate multiple types of rewards in one transaction instead of only allowing one specific type of reward or defaulting to all rewards. This option accepts anything from the rewards page that goes to staked SPS (i.e. wild, modern, focus, season, license, land, and/or nightmare). To use this option, pass a “types” argument that contains an array of reward types, i.e. [“wild”,”modern”]. Please note that this is an expanded functionality for the original operation added in on the 2022-09-27 release.
We have added the option to allow fractional delegation of SPS rewards. Reward delegations will now accept up to 2 decimals in the percent. Any value after that is dropped - i.e. trying to do a .001% will round to 0% and undelegate the rewards.
General Updates
A bug that caused players who have had their KYC manually verified to be unable to join KYC-required tournaments has been fixed. If you still run into issues, you may need to contact support for them to update your account's KYC information.
We have updated the Lore of the following Splinterlands cards:
Bramble Pixie (common Earth element card from the Riftwatchers edition).
Kralus (legendary Life element card from the Dice edition).
An issue that caused the Riftwatcher icon not to load on the market activity page has been corrected.
We have made minor performance enhancement changes to the database handling.
Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release
We have added separate metrics for modern and wild matches in transaction/metrics API, allowing battle data for both modern and wild battles to be exported independently.
The first Airdrop card for the Riftwatchers presale, Oshuur Constantia, has been activated. Note that Oshuur is a limited Presale promotion card that will not be available in card packs like all other Airdrop cards.
We have added "The Watcher" (Riftwatchers presale title) to Splinterlands.
Reward System Changes:
We have implemented the distribution of SPS reward payouts for Land claim token holders.
The SPS reward pool allocated to land claim token holders is 6.25M SPS per month (decreasing at a rate of 1% / month for 65 months) in rewards, which will be distributed daily and split equally among all plots of land held within Splinterlands game accounts. This would mean that players would receive approximately 40 SPS tokens per month in the first month per plot of land held in their account, with TRACT claims being worth 100 plots and REGION claims being worth 1000 plots.
Land claim token holders can claim their SPS rewards on the SPS management page in the reward claim section.
Once claimed, the SPS rewards for Land claim token holders will be automatically staked to the owners' account.
Users can view their claimed SPS rewards for holding Land claim tokens on the balance history screen in currency activity.
We have implemented the distribution of SPS reward payouts for Tower Defense Nightmare pack holders.
The SPS reward pool allocated to Nightmare pack holders is 1M SPS per month (decreasing at a rate of 1% / month for 65 months) in rewards which will be distributed daily in equal proportions for every Splinterlands Tower Defense Nightmare pack that is held in-game.
Nightmare pack holders can claim their SPS rewards on the SPS management page in the reward claim section.
All SPS rewards for Nightmare pack holders will be directly staked to the owners' account once claimed.
Users can view their claimed SPS rewards for holding Nightmare packs on the balance history screen in currency activity.
Changes in preparation of Validator Nodes:
We have updated the option to purchase Credits using SPS to function after implementing the Validator management system.
All tokens used in Tournaments that are managed by the new Validator system (SPS & Vouchers) can now be processed as external tokens when the Validators go live.

If a player purchases 100 or more Chaos Legion packs, they will be eligible to burn a certain number of VOUCHER for Bonus Chaos Legion Packs.
The player will need to send a token_transfer action to the $SHOP account to burn Vouchers with a memo containing the transaction ID of the eligible entry.
Once the player receives their Bonus packs, the Vouchers will get burned.
Splinterfest Follow-ups
Weirdbeard can now make tournaments with no entry fees on the official Splinterlands tournament account without needing developer intervention.
Private tournaments, with no entry fees, will now appropriately display a notice when entering the wrong password. Previously, this would only happen for tournaments with entry fees.
General:
To prevent any possible exploitation by viewing the outstanding matches from accounts you don’t own during battle selection, we have made the following API changes:
https://api2.splinterlands.com/players/outstanding_match?username=PlayerName - now requires you to pass in your authentication token to get results. This happens automatically inside the game now, so there’s no actual visible difference. However, trying to call the API directly will reject giving results unless you tack on your authentication token i.e. https://api2.splinterlands.com/players/outstanding_match?username=PlayerName&token=AuthenticationToken. Please note that this change may affect 3rd party developers.
We have retired the purchases/pack_purchases API, as it is no longer used. The valid end-point is players/pack_purchases. Please note that this change may affect 3rd party developers.
We are making some improvements to our market data caching to improve performance.
We have removed the Events tab containing Splinterfest from the Shop page.
An issue that caused the focus points (FP) needed to earn the next reward chest for the daily focus to display incorrectly has been fixed.
The play button on the mobile web application has been set not to redirect players to the mobile app and instead allow them to continue playing on the mobile website.
We have resolved an issue that allowed certain users to perform PayPal purchases without conducting the necessary KYC.
The default display order of the SPS Governance proposals has been set to display the listed proposals in order of the latest entered proposal to the oldest listed proposal.
A new notification message has been added that will notify users when a new SPS governance proposal has been listed. By clicking view on the notification option, users will be directed to the proposal tab on the SPS management page.
New SPS governance proposals will also be indicated by a red banner displaying the number of new proposals listed since last viewed next to the proposals tab header on the SPS management page.
The logic for creating a player name when you first join Splinterlands has been updated to ensure that all initially issued game names are unique.
We've added the block number and transaction ID to the Balance History yearly exports.
A “Gladiator Cards” option has been added to direct in-game challenges that will allow for the use of a Gladiator card during a challenge match.
We have resolved an issue that caused Liquidity pool contributions to not display correctly and would prevent the user from being able to claim after a user changed their linked Ethereum wallet address in Splinterlands.
A minor update to the Guild Store text has been made to note Merits can be found in Ranked Reward chests.
Items hotfixed into the game prior to the release:
Bug fixes were introduced to rectify a possible economy issue in the Champion league, where players earned significant SPS with very low ECR. The issues addressed were as follows:
Bug: The average Rshares were calculated from the current day (for the previous 15 days), which caused the number of Rshares to be lower than intended. This has been changed to exclude the present day from the Rshare calculations.
Bug: The average Rshares were calculated from ranked and tournament games. Changes have been made to exclude tournament matches from Rshare calculations and only use ranked battles since tournament battles do not generate Rshares. This will increase the average Rshares over 15 days as was designed.
We added additional error messages when Hive is disabled on Transak or Simpleswap.
We have updated the text of the Affiliate Program screen message to specify that SPS purchases will not qualify for affiliate rewards.
The Voucher display line that indicates the vouchers owned by an account on the main shop display has been adjusted to display the number of vouchers owned rounded off to three spaces after the decimal.
We have fixed a minor typo on the Splinterlands Tower Defense sales page. *
The blank notification displayed for outstanding Airdrop claims for the Untamed card edition has been fixed. *
A display error on the SPS Governance proposals screen that displayed the required votes needed to pass a proposal as 66% has been corrected to indicate 66.67%.
* These Items were hotfixed into the game prior to the release.
Riftwatchers:
Riftwatchers has been set to go live!
Users will now be able to open all Riftwatcher mini edition gem packs, and all cards will be eligible for use in tournaments, ranked battles, and ‘All Edition’ Brawl frays.
We have implemented general card functionality to ensure that users can combine cards to level them up and unlock new abilities.
Riftwatcher cards can be purchased and sold on the Splinterlands market. In addition, users can now list cards on the rental market and perform rental transactions.
Riftwatcher filters have been put in place for all card selection screens, such as the cards and the market pages.
The Oshuur airdrop card has been added to Splinterlands and will become available for claiming once all refunds requests from the pre-sale have been processed.
Tower Defense:
We have replaced the Splinterlands Tower Defense (SPLTD) presale with a countdown page that will be counting down to 27 September 2022, 4 pm (EST), when the Tower Defense general pack sale will go live.
Once the Tower Defense countdown timer ends, the SPLTD general sale screen will appear.
The price of the SPLTD Nightmare packs has been updated to display a cost of 8,000 DEC or 8000 Credits per pack.
Users can claim a Voucher discount of 3000 DEC/Credits for each SPLTD pack purchase.
All discounted packs earned from bulk purchases have been set to auto-populate when you enter the pack count you want to purchase. (Applicable to purchases of 100 or more packs)
General:
We have updated the pop-up notification that appears when an account that does not own a Spellbook attempts to cast a vote on the SPS Proposal Voting system. The warning message will now read, "There was an error completing this transaction: You must purchase the Summoners Spellbook."
We have improved the performance of matchmaking. The queue times for bot vs bot matchups have been reduced from 150 seconds to 30 seconds as per the notification in the #tech-updates channel on the official Splinterlands Discord server.
We have clarified the wording displayed on the License tab of the SPS management page to read "Last Reward Claim" instead of "Last Reward".
A broken link in the BEP20 Token Payment Instructions that directed to a 'Page Not Found' screen has been fixed and will now direct to an internal support article from our help desk.
An issue that caused cards not to display for battle selection in Splinterlands Open Tournaments has been fixed.
The daily focus has been set to issue a new daily focus as soon as the rewards for the previous daily focus have been claimed instead of only giving a new daily focus once the user enters the battle page after claiming their rewards for the last daily focus. *
We have added an option that will allow Splinterlands users to share a % of their ranked battle/chest rewards with a secondary account. SPS rewards can be delegated to another account, or accounts, by sending a Hive blockchain operation (requires active key) of sm_delegate_rewards and sending properties of {"username":<username>,"percent":<integer from 0 to 100>}. You can remove delegated rewards by sending a Hive blockchain operation of sm_undelegate_rewards and sending a property of {"username":<username>}. Doing a delegation of 0 will also remove existing delegations. We have also added 2 new APIs to pull delegation information.
You can view current delegations at https://api.splinterlands.com/players/reward_delegations?username=investygator
or a history of delegations at https://api.splinterlands.com/players/reward_delegation_history?username=investygator The history supports limit and offset arguments and by default, has a limit of 100 and a max limit of 1000.
Promo codes for purchasing a Spellbook have been given priority over referral links. Therefore, if a user purchases a Spellbook using a promo code, Splinterlands will allocate the referral link linked to the promo code to their account instead of using the referrer entered when initially creating the free account.
A notice has been added to the buy DEC and SPS pages informing user accounts without a Spellbook that they will need to acquire a Spellbook before purchasing any DEC or SPS through the Splinterlands user interface. *
The button to save Brawl settings has been hidden for Guild members and will now only be visible to Guild leaders, co-leaders, and officers. *
An error that occurred when players were trying to link their ETH wallet address to their Splinterlands account during the Runi whitelist presale and informed users that "Another Hive account has already verified this ETC address" has been fixed. *
* These Items were hotfixed into the game prior to the release.
Splinterlands Tower Defense Presale:
We have added a Tower Defense tab to the Splinterlands shop page that will host a countdown timer that will be counting down until Tuesday, 20 September, 4 pm (est) for the release of the presale for the Splinterlands Tower Defense game.
The Splinterlands Tower Defense presale screen, where users will be able to purchase Tower Defense packs, has been created and will be visible once the countdown ends and the presale starts. This screen will contain the following functionality:
A Buy Now button that will take the user to the purchase screen.

We have split the SPS reward pool for ranked battles by leagues to function similarly to how the SPS rewards are split by the league for focus/season loot chests. Instead of two pools (one for Modern and one for Wild) with 900k SPS per season each, the pools will be split as follows:

The new reward system for Validator Node License holders has been implemented. License rewards will be claimable starting Wednesday, 14 September 2022.
3,375,000 SPS is allocated monthly to the Validator Node License holders' rewards. These rewards will be divided among all license holders according to % of all licenses they own in relation to all the licenses sold to date.

All SPS claimed for Validator License rewards will be staked once claimed.
As part of the new Validator Node license reward system, the functionality that automatically claimed daily Voucher rewards has been disabled. As of Wednesday, 14 September 2022, Validator license holders must claim their Voucher rewards on the SPS management page.
Voucher reward distribution will still be calculated the same way; it is just the claim process that will change.

An issue where Claim All could attempt to claim 0 amounts of SPS has been resolved.
We have increased the number of accounts handling broadcasting transactions to the Hive network, increasing our ability to handle requests per block. *

Splinterlands Open tournaments rely on skill rather than playable cards in a user's collection. At the beginning of each Splinterlands open tournament, all participants will be given a complete set of cards to use based on the tournament’s series, league, and foil giving each participant an equal playing field. This means that all participants will have access to the same card selection. These Decks will be built off of the selection of playable sets and their levels as determined by the Tournament League. This can include tournaments focused around high-level/expensive decks, specific tournament levels (bronze, silver, gold, etc.), gold foil, etc regardless of rank, any battle mage may compete.

The e-mail templates, i.e. Forgot Password, Hive Key Request, etc., have had their designs updated.
* This Item was hotfixed into the game prior to this release.
We have flattened the overall range of Merits earned in Chests. The overall average of Merits across leagues will be the same as before this change.

We have made a change to correct the handling of surrenders. Previously, in certain rare situations accounts could get wins without submitting a legal team when their opponent surrendered.
Adjustments have been made so that when a Challenge is issued and accepted, if neither player submits a team the match will be dismissed, instead of declaring the player that issued the challenge the winner.
We have made sure that the Active Authority is set to “On” by default for all new spellbook purchases, regardless of how the purchase was made. We also have set any remaining accounts where this was not already set, and that own a spell book, to have their ‘Require Active Authority’ set to “On” to increase security.

A new API has been added that lets users easily look at the current number of Season and focus reward-shares, and chests an account has pending. An example of this would be calling, “https://api.splinterlands.com/players/current_rewards?username=hardpoint”.

Ranked Rewards Updates
The Daily Focus mechanics have been updated and each Ranked battle win will contribute rshares toward the Daily Focus chests, even if no daily focus cards are used. However, each card used that follows the daily focus will give a 10% bonus to the amount of focus points earned for that battle.
Rshare distribution has been implemented that will allow both Summoners and Monster Units to contribute to bonus rshare earnings, but only monster units that naturally have the required ability will qualify for this bonus (a monster unit that receives the required ability through summoner buffs will not qualify).
Higher tier Loot Chests that may contain Potions, will now contain more Potions per chest than lower tier Loot Chests.
Merits have been added as a possible reward in loot chests. The number of Merits received from a chest will be randomly determined in a similar manner to how the DEC chest rewards are calculated.
14 Amazing new ability-based Daily Focuses have been added to the game. Note: Not all of the new daily focuses will be available in lower leagues, due to fewer cads having certain abilities at the levels allowed for those leagues.
The feature that ensured that a player’s active Element for the Daily Focus was always available has been disabled.
We have changed the way that a player's Energy Capture Rate (ECR) will drain. ECR will now drain at 1% of the current ECR until it reaches 50%, after that the ECR will drain at a rate of 5% of the current ECR per ranked battle played.

The Copyright year on the Splinterlands site has been updated to reflect the current year as per the system clock.
An Edition check has been added to prioritize using Alpha cards over Beta cards when selecting cards for battle. Alpha cards will now always appear if you also have a Beta card of identical level and gold foil.

Some accounts still had Mystery Potions on their account balance, even though they were previously refunded. These have been cleared and should no longer appear in the Other Items screen.
The type of the Daily Focus reward chests will now be based on the players' current league at the time that Focus begins, instead of the highest league achieved during the previous season.
Rshare calculation has been updated to further incentivize card ownership or renting.
We have updated the Balance History Exports page, it will now use the player join date or default to 2018 instead of fetching the earliest balance history record. This was done to improve the loading speed of the Balance History export page and address issues for accounts that have a large amount of historical data.
Some UI issues on the Buy DEC/SPS screens that caused the price to display incorrectly have been corrected.
Changes were made that will allow more than one tournament to end at the same time. (We will start with allowing 3 tournaments to end at the same time as opposed to only allowing 2 tournaments to end at a time, prior to this change.)

You will now be able to view and claim your distributed vouchers on the SPS Management page in the rewards section.
In an attempt to stop automated systems from reading pending card rental or sales transactions and buying/renting cards before they are listed on the market, we have disallowed cards to be purchased or rented within the same block that the transaction was initially created. Currently, there is a 3 block (about 9 seconds) delay before a card can be purchased, after being listed. We may adjust this time in the future based on data collected and player feedback.
We have fixed an issue that could lead to some users seeing gaps in their balance history. The data should now appear correctly in the game.
A rare issue that caused accounts to not get created properly if the account was created from a blockchain transaction interacting with the game instead of through the APIs or site has been fixed.

“Enemy found” will be changed to “Match begins”
The opponent’s name will no longer be displayed in ranked battles.
The Recently Played teams displaying the last 5 battles on the ‘Enemy Found’ screen when entering into battle will no longer display surrendered matches for opponents. Please note that the last 5 battles will be reset with this update and only start populating with battles that have occurred following this change.

We have reviewed the way that the system selects the cards that are used for battle. If a user has multiple cards of the same level in one account (owned, rented, or through delegation), the system will select cards used for battle in the following order:
Cards will be selected by level, if the levels are tied Gold foil cards will be selected.
If the level and the Gold foil cards are tied, cards not owned by the user (rented or delegated cards) will be selected.
If the level, Gold foil cards, and ownership are tied, the most recently used cards will be selected.
